Now that everyone is full of turkey and dressing it is a perfect time to relax, watch a football game, and think about all the things we are truly thankful for.
My family always goes around the table, one by one, and we say we what are thankful for. However, more times than none I have been guilty of not really thinking about the question and just blurting anything out in order for someone else to go.
Not this year though. This year will be different. I want to truly describe what I am thankful for. My life has been a whirlwind for the past few years and it seems as if the winds are picking up speed lately. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t stop and think about what I am thankful for.
It is so important that we pause each day and remember these things, no matter how big or how small. This is a crazy lovely life and God wants us to truly enjoy it and to be thankful for it. So let us take a breather and truly examine our lives and everything that we have to be thankful for this year.
Personally, I am so thankful that in just a few short months I am graduating college. YAYYY!! I honestly cannot wait. I often get, let’s say STRESSED OUT TO THE MAX, when dealing with all of the work, but it is all about to pay off and I am so thankful for that. I am also thankful for my family. I know, everyone says that, but do they mean it? Because I do, without them I would not be where I am today and I surely wouldn’t be as successful as I am.
Then there is my daughter (she gets a special spot) I am so incredibly thankful for this little ray of sunshine. I had her when I was 18 and I had honestly no idea the impact one single person could have on my life until now. I am so thankful that she calls me “mom.” Lastly, I am thankful for Jesus and everything He has done for us, from waking us in the morning to getting me through the day, to dying on the cross for us. I am so amazingly blessed and I think it is so important for all of us to remember just how blessed we truly are and to be thankful for those things in our everyday life.
No matter how awful something may seem, you will get through it and in a year when you look back you will be thankful you went through it, it has made you who you are and you are stronger for it.
So I challenge you this year to take a step back, examine closely, find something you are so eternally grateful for, and let your loved ones know.
